Jack Tennison has built more than 6,000 pieces of furniture for ministries from Texas to Canada to Cuba, but at age 92 he’s now lost count. Still, he and others working with him keep building.

Smith County honors TXM volunteers with Community Hero Award

Smith County officials honored Texans on Mission Disaster Relief with a Community Hero Award Thursday for work the volunteers have done helping more than 100 residents clean up their properties damaged by the severe weather in late May and early June.

Veteran presents flags to chainsaw team

Texans on Mission's Deep East Texas chainsaw team receiving surprising gifts recently after finishing work on a house in Dallas. The homeowners presented the team with an American flag and U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division flag.

Rebuild of Dyess Grove Church building begins

Thursday, five Texans on Mission volunteers began the process of rebuilding the Dyess Grove Baptist Church's structure after a June tornado ripped off one wall and half of the roof. The volunteers came from Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown and Bell Baptist Association.

Another village, Alepu, now has clean water in Uganda

Akot Hellen Odong is a mother of eight. She and her husband, Odong Bir Jackson, are farmers who grow maize, soya and eggplant, mostly for home consumption. They are among beneficiaries of a well drilled this year by Texans and Ugandans on Mission in the village of Alepu. The well is now providing water for 420 residents.

Lawn Baptist Church team gives week to rebuilding tornado-damaged home

Brooke Brandon deals with a number of chronic illnesses that limit her mobility and require her to use a walker. A year ago this month she crouched in her hallway as a tornado ripped off the roof of much of her home in Matador, northeast of Lubbock. Last week, a Texans on Mission team from Lawn Baptist Church helped Brandon rebuild.
