A partnership between The Bucket Ministry, Texans on Mission and The Rising International Ministries will deliver God’s love through the gift of clean and safe drinking water to 400 homes in two Philippines villages – Besigan and Kibanog.

Bucket Ministry works in more than 20 countries in need of clean water and the Gospel of Jesus, a release from the nonprofit said. It mobilizes "indigenous missionaries" to distribute bucket water filters to provide 20-plus years of clean, safe drinking water.

With each water filter, Bucket Ministry conducts three in-home follow-up visits seeking to ensure the water filters are maintained and to share about Jesus.

"In this new partnership, The Bucket Ministry’s proven processes and data will be combined with filters
generously provided by Texans on Mission and distributed by a team of The Rising missionaries on the
ground in Besigan," the release said.

“Through our work worldwide, we have seen the power of this simple water filter," it continued. "By meeting a great physical need for the people in Besigan, we pray their hearts will be open to hearing the life-saving Good News of Jesus.”

Initial tests "identified harmful levels of E. coli, coliform bacteria and fecal matter in the spring water" in Besigan and Kibanog.

A 2024 study by Hope College conducted in Kenya, determined that filters like the ones used by Bucket Ministry were "effective in reducing the levels of E. coli and total coliform bacteria in drinking water by up to 99%, greatly lessening diarrheal disease," the release said. "After approximately 70 days of filter use, the study noted self-
reported diarrhea rates dropped from 52.7% to 2.2%."

"Dirty water drowns generations, but clean water brings life,” said Parker Hall of The Rising. “The knowledge that The Bucket Ministry has gained through their decade of work in Kenya and other places around the world is invaluable. We just saw firsthand, over and over, how the combination of a simple bucket and a Sawyer water filter can unlock doors for the love of Jesus Christ to
be shared."
