Texans on Mission Disaster Relief recently held a 16-hour training course for volunteer chaplains. Memorial Baptist Church in Temple hosted the course, and 20 disaster relief volunteers received the training.
Chaplaincy is an important part of TXM Disaster Relief. All volunteers are expected to provide care and comfort to disaster victims, but there is also a role for volunteers' whose primary task is to spend pesonal time with those who are hurting.
The training course involved detailed content, role playing, sharing and discussion. It was open to credentialed TXM Disaster Relief volunteers and required a pastor's recommendation.
If you think God might be calling you to a chaplain's role, continue to pray and make sure you have completed disaster relief orientation.
